AMC 8 Foundation 1: Bridging Elementary to Middle School Math

Grade 4-6 | Competition Focus: AMC 8 (Foundation)

This course helps elementary students make a confident transition into middle school math while building the groundwork for AMC 8 success. Students explore key topics in number theory and algebra - including exponents and exponent laws, common divisors and multiples, linear equations, inequalities, ratios and proportions, unit conversion, and speed - developing the pre-algebra fluency that middle school math and AMC 8 both depend on.

What students will develop

• Solid command of exponent rules, divisors, and multiples
• Ability to set up and solve linear equations and inequalities
• Comfort working with ratios, proportions, and unit conversions
• A strong pre-algebra foundation to build on in Foundation 2 and 3, and later AMC 8 prep courses

Format: Small-group instruction with guided practice, structured as the first step in AAA's AMC 8 Foundation sequence, preparing students for entry-level AMC 8 competition prep.
