Grade 6-7 | Competition Focus: AMC 8 (Foundation)
This course completes the AMC 8 Foundation sequence by introducing counting and probability, one of the most heavily tested and often underprepared areas on the AMC 8. Students learn to approach problems creatively through casework, permutations and combinations, Pascal's Triangle, combinatorial identities, and the Binomial Theorem - building the flexible reasoning these problems demand.
What students will develop
- Ability to organize and solve problems using systematic casework
- Fluency with permutations, combinations, and their real-world applications
- Familiarity with Pascal's Triangle and key combinatorial identities
- Working understanding of the Binomial Theorem and its connection to counting
Format: Small-group instruction with guided practice, completing AAA's three-part AMC 8 Foundation sequence and preparing students for entry-level AMC 8 competition prep.
